Normally miso, an Asian flavour, is used for stir-frys but Hemsley and Hemsley do it differently: "We pair it with ginger, garlic and toasted sesame oil - but we wanted to keep it as "British" tasting as possible. Like all good gravy recipes you can change it up and make it your own - thin it with a splash more water, thicken it with more cooked onion or another blended vegetable such as parsnip, add in your own secret blend of spices or throw in a couple of peeled garlic cloves when cooking up your onion".
