DRINK: The Nomad Hotel

Thanks to Parisian interior designer Jacques Garcia, The Library Bar and Atrium restaurant at The Nomad Hotel are always plush and inviting- but they come into their own in December. Cozy and classy, the cocktails are on point too.

New York's legendary Bar '21' & Lounge makes their own egg nog over the festive season and their holiday-themed cocktail menu is one of the best in the city. Our personal favorite? 'Tis The Season with spiced cranberry and prosecco.

DO: Radio City Christmas Spectacular

The hottest tickets in town, The Rockettes' Christmas Spectacular at New York's iconic Radio City has been a December staple since the 1930s. This year, however, it's got even better with a high-tech makeover that's made it fully immersive.

EAT: The Polo Lounge

Oh-so cozy and chic, Ralph Lauren’s Polo Lounge is the perfect winter den to hide away from the cold. With open log fires and freshly roasted nuts served alongside your cocktail, it’s upscale NYC Christmas at its best.

DO: Igloo Bar at 230 Fifth

Grab a "Hot Fireball Cider" or "Godiva Peppermint Hot Chocolate" from inside a Winter Igloo on the rooftop at 230 Fifth- don't worry they have warm robes and heaters too. With one of the best views of The Empire States Building, it works on a walk-in only basis (and minors between the ages of 16-20 are allowed to come in during brunch hours on Saturday).

SEE: The Plaza

Since it first opened in 1907 (and exactly 25 years since the release of the legendary Home Alone 2) The Plaza has a history of beauty and tradition over the month of December. Combine a tour of the decor with a cocktail at The Champagne Bar or in the iconic Palm Court.

SHOP: John Derian

John Derian, on the lower east side, has the most gorgeous collection of quirky ornaments, plates and paperweights. All handmade in his studio in New York City, this is the place to pick up something that will make your tree a little more special.

9 Rockefeller Center-nyc

Rockefeller Center

No December trip to New York could be complete without seeing The Rockefeller Center's 75 foot tree and taking a whizz around the ice skating rink below. A tradition since 1931, the star is made from real shatterproof glass and sparkles with 25,000 Swarovski crystals. It's touristy but also iconic.

Eat: Rolf's

The Christmas decor at Rolf's is not for the faint hearted- with floor-to-ceiling lights, baubles and wreaths, it's a minimalists worst nightmare. But it's so popular with New Yorkers that it stays open (and fully festive themed) until May. The menu is full of German meat dishes- sausages, chicken, schnitzel, pair it with a cool Riesling from the wine menu.
