With one of the best views of The Empire States Building, it works on a walk-in only basis (and minors between the ages of 16-20 are allowed to come in during brunch hours on Saturday).

Rockefeller Center

No December trip to New York could be complete without seeing The Rockefeller Center's 75 foot tree and taking a whizz around the ice skating rink below. A tradition since 1931, the star is made from real shatterproof glass and sparkles with 25,000 Swarovski crystals. It's touristy but also iconic.

Eat: Rolf's

The Christmas decor at Rolf's is not for the faint hearted- with floor-to-ceiling lights, baubles and wreaths, it's a minimalists worst nightmare. But it's so popular with New Yorkers that it stays open (and fully festive themed) until May. The menu is full of German meat dishes- sausages, chicken, schnitzel, pair it with a cool Riesling from the wine menu.
