HIDDEN amsterdam FOODIE GEMS
Amsterdam’s food scene is often overlooked - it is after all neighbor to the the capital of chocolate, Belgium- but in the past five years the number of restaurants in the city has grown by 27 percent. The Dutch love for burgers, breakfast, brunch, and coffee shops has got ever more sophisticated as tourism in the city has exploded. In 2016, 16 million people visited the city, an all time high (and a huge number considering it has less than a million inhabitants). We asked Amsterdam stylist (and former buyer for big fashion names such as Nike, Adidas, Reebok and Calvin Klein), Sara Adank- who writes the blog Truffles and Champagnes- to share her favorite hidden gems.

The most beautiful garden setting! This restaurant specializes in slow food cooking and uses sustainable, local ingredients. They are open for lunch and dinner but you can also stop by for a hot drink and thick slice of cake during the day too.

Ahh the poke bowl, originally from Hawaii. I have no words for this dish. This is truly life!!! You can make your own bowl or you can choose from the menu. It's happiness in food form.

Try the lavinia high tea or banana pancakes, it's different than the rest and a great little day pitstop.

In a great neighborhood, with great ambiance- definitely stop by this little gem of a coffee shop for breakfast (they are rumored to have the best eggs benedict in town).
