The first major retrospective of Azzedine Alaïa’s work hits London's Design Museum...

Azzedine Alaïa, The Design Museum, London

Best known as the “king of cling”, Azzedine Alaïa, who died in 2017 aged 82, was a master fashion designer, who’s legacy will always be his expert ability to artfully capture the female form. A man more equated with the Parisian fashion scene, 2018’s major retrospective at London’s Design Museum’s is the first solo exhibition in Britain dedicated to his work. Alaïa helped to conceive and co-create the exhibit before his death and it’s certainly one worth putting in the dairy. Unlike many of his contemporaries, the designer personally constructed each garment by hand and refused to bow to the pressures of fashion week deadlines, instead working to his own schedule.
