Backstage Hotel, Zermatt

Set against the dramatic backdrop of Matterhorn mountain, that connects Switzerland and Italy, The Backstage Hotel is all glass floors, floating fireplaces, industrial chandeliers and is by no means a ordinaary hotel. Built by local artist Heinz Julen, each piece of furniture has been handcrafted in his Zermatt workshop and the legendary cube loft rooms are designed to be inhabitable pieces of art. Situated in the heart of Zermatt’s town centre, it makes a quirky and unique crash pad if you are looking for late-season skiing (Zermatt being one of Europe’s go-to destinations for that). Wellness addicts will also enjoy the extensive menu of healing treatments available in the state-of-the-art spa, from entirely weightless floation pools to a meditation room adorned with Michelangelo’s masterpieces on ceiling and waterbeds. It’s chilled apres-ski heaven.

FOOD: 2 Michelin-starred restaurant.
INSIDER TIP: Don’t miss the in-house cinema.
GO FOR: A new experience.
