Located in downtown L.A., with an impressive collection of contemporary art, The Broad is a new unmissable destination...

The Broad, Downtown, Los Angeles

The Broad only opened in late 2015 but is already an exciting addition to LA’s roster of art institutions, drawing both out-of-towners and locals in droves. Founded by local billionaires, Eli and Edythe Broad, two of the country’s most prestigious contemporary collectors, it showcases their private collection of over 200 works. Ranging from Andy Warhol, to Jasper Johns, or- Broad favorite- Jeff Koons, the Broads have gifted the public free access but be warned: the lines get long (standard wait time is 2 hours) so book well ahead- even timed tickets sell out months in advance. In the heart of Downtown Los Angeles, next door to Frank Gehry’s Walt Disney Concert Hall, there’s food trucks and selfie-snapping young things galore (data shows that 70% of the museum’s guests are under the age of 34).

LOCATED: Downtown Los Angeles
