Destroyer is the type of cafe you can easily miss from the outside, yet come lunch time it is overflowing with local creatives in hunt of the signature Chicken Confit or Roasted Cauliflower. Ultra-contemporary, everything is Instragram-worthy and served in sculptural ceramics, it almost feels almost like a futuristic science lab with the menu projected on the wall and glass boxes of pastries on the counter. The vision of Jordan Kahn, whose first job was in the kitchen at Thomas Keller’s much-lauded The French Laundry, he’s also the man behind LA’s Vespertine- the high end ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ dining experience with a $250 set menu. Go for an innovative work lunch and be sure to save space for dessert (Kahn’s pastries are world famous).
