The New York Botanical Garden’s major seasonal exhibit on Georgia O’Keeffe opens May 19 2018.

Georgia O’Keeffe, The New York Botanical Gardens

The New York Botanical Garden’s landmark Georgia O’Keeffe exhibition, Visions of Hawaii, opens on May 19 and will run until October 28. One of the first female painters to achieve worldwide acclaim, it’s a must-see for any floral obsessed New York girl. Exploring the artist’s immersion in the Hawaiian Islands in 1939, it features more than 15 gorgeous paintings not seen together since their 1940 debut. Located in the Bronx, just 20 minutes from Midtown Manhattan, the 250-acre New York Botanical Garden is one of our favorite NYC summer hangouts (most of the flowers bloom mid May). Go browse the well manicured gardens- there are over 50- and take a picnic lunch.

BEST FOR: Tropical inspiration, the exhibit showcases O’Keeffe’s frangipanis, bougainvilleas, and hibiscus.
INSIDER’S TIP: Take a stylish picnic lunch for after, the two cafes at The New York Botanical Garden’s can get crammed.
DON’T MISS: The film Off In The Far Away Somewhere: Georgia O’Keeffe’s Visions of Hawaii (narrated by Sigourney Weaver) that will be playing on repeat.
