After Yves Saint Laurent died in 2008, his ashes were scattered in Marrakech's beautiful Majorelle Gardens...

Le Jardin Majorelle, Marrakech

This twelve-acre botanical garden took French Orientalist artist Jacques Majorelle over forty years to create, and after a period of neglect was discovered in the 1980s by fashion designers Yves Saint-Laurent and Pierre Bergé, who stopped it being bought by a hotel complex and set about bringing it back to its full beauty. No trip to Marrakech is complete without a tour of the bold cobalt blue walls and awe-inspiring botanicals. A lush respite from the sometimes overwhelming city streets- do not miss the shop, which is one of our favorite boutiques in Marrakech.

ADMISSION: Garden 70 DHS, Museum 30 DHS
OWNED: By Yves Saint-Laurent and Pierre Bergé between 1980 and 2008.
